One of Notting Hill’s newest residents, STIL is easily one of the chicest hairdressers we have visited: a minimalist, white salon that channels Scandinavian design, characterised by wooden floors, marble, ceramics and indoor plants-a-plenty. Remove the gadgets and it is more like a gallery than a salon, designed by globally renowned decorator Peter Farlow.
STIL was opened by Swedish native Christel Lundqvist, an award-winning colourist who has scooped the gong for British Hairdressers’ Colour Technician of the Year no fewer than three times. Her team is equally impressive, including style director and fashion week stalwart Shaun McIntosh.
STIL's cuts mirror its interiors: effortlessly cool coiffures, with an emphasis on excellent colour. Hair dye is mixed on the salon floor at the sleek dye dispensary: handmade using reclaimed wood, it looks more likely to serve martinis than pigment. Speaking of drinks, sip on Alkaline-infused mineral water (BLK) while your stylist sets to work, or tuck into one of the neat bowls of sweets left out for your grazing pleasure.
Colour treatments on offer include Scandinavian Blonde, which delivers the perfect shade of platinum and the opulent Sheer Gloss, which gives your locks a lustrous, all-over shine.
I skip the colour but my cut is equally as impressive. Under McIntosh’s instinctive and punctilious care, my tresses are chopped and layered for a softly sexy, bouncy finish.
From the Scandi-chic interiors to the modern colour options, cool girls are certain to flock to STIL; we encourage you to join the gang.
