Want to be part of the Queen’s birthday celebrations? Now’s your chance, thanks to The Ritz Hotel and the Royal Windsor Horse Show
Her Majesty might be celebrating her 90th birthday this year, but legendary London hotel The Ritz is also aging gracefully, marking its 110th anniversary in 2016. To celebrate more than a century as London’s most iconic hotel (with royal connections going back to HRH King Edward VII), The Ritz is offering a number of special packages to coincide with some of the country’s most famous events.
One such event is HM’s birthday, as celebrated at the Royal Windsor Horse Show (11-15 May). The special two-night accommodation package includes evening attendance at Her Majesty’s official birthday celebrations in the exclusive Waterloo Chamber of the Royal Enclosure, inside the private grounds at Windsor Castle.
It’s not every day you get to see inside this part of the castle, but read on – it gets better.
After transferring from London to Windsor, the evening will commence with a Black Tie champagne and canapé reception, followed by a three-course gala dinner – two courses of which will be served before the main celebrations, with guests returning to the Waterloo Chamber after the event to enjoy dessert, cheeses, wine and coffee.
The 90-minute celebration of the Queen’s life, love of horses, dedication to the Commonwealth and international affairs – as well as HM’s connection to the Navy, Army and Air Force will feature 900 horses and more than 1,500 participants from around the UK, as well as the latest video projection, LED effects and theatrical lighting.
A member of the royal family will be in attendance each night from 12 May, but the Queen herself will be present on 15 May, so choose your dates wisely!
This is the only time of year that the private area of Windsor Castle is open to outside guests, so if you’re keen to see how the royal family lives, this is your chance. Combining it with a two-night stay at The Ritz is the icing on the (very luxurious) birthday cake.
