Haute fragrance house Clive Christian refreshes its olfactory offering with a sleek new bottle design
Designer Clive Christian discovered the historic Crown Perfumery Company by chance, after finding a discarded bottle beneath the floorboards of his family home. Beguiled by the ornate bottle, which dated back to 1800, Christian decided to purchase and revive the company, which is steeped in royal history.
The revered Crown Perfumery Company was traditionally the scent of choice for Queen Victoria, who was so impressed by the fragrance house that she allowed the shape of her crown to be used for the cap of the bottle. She had several scents created for herself and Prince Albert, inspiring a majestic perfumery beloved by high society and royals.
Christian resurrected the brand as Clive Christian Perfumes in 1999, modernising the prestigious house while honouring its illustrious heritage. Today, it is renowned for its captivating and complex scents, created with exacting precision using rare and splendid ingredients. Christian received an OBE in 2012 for his services to British luxury design and was credited with creating the world’s most expensive perfume in 2014; a diamond-encrusted, limited edition bottle priced at £143,000, to mark the opening of Harrods Haute Parfumerie.
The artisanal scent is housed in a beautifully crafted, majestic glass bottle, crowned by a crystal cap.
This month, Christian updates its opulent perfume portfolio by introducing a sleek new bottle design for each of the six exquisite scents for men and women. Our summer favourite is No.1 Feminine, resplendent with floral and fruity notes. Pineapple, plum and white peach are tempered by cardamom and pimento oil, on a sweet vanilla and creamy tonka bean base. The complementing No.1 Masculine is fresh, zesty blend with top notes of bergamot, lime, Sicilian mandarin and pink grapefruit. Majestic, lingering fragrances that will leave you feeling like royalty.
