Why a day at the luxurious Lanesborough Club & Spa should be on every girl's wishlist
Since opening in 2017, the Lanesborough Club & Spa has become Hyde Park's grande dame of relaxation. Tucked away in the belly of the hotel, decor seduces from the off – traditional and often romantic, with marble flooring, semi-smoky mirrors and gilded wall lights.
I start with a manicure in the prettiest nail salon I've ever seen. There are just three stations for utmost exclusivity and green tea is served in beautiful china. Warm yellow table lamps keep the environment cosy and glossy. The manicure is thorough, with the usual cuticle trim, file and soak followed by a delicious oil being massaged into my hands and arms, after which the charming Daniela applies three coats of OPI's palest pink.
Trying not to smudge my newly groomed talons, I glide one floor up to the Daniel Galvin Junior hair salon. A small space, with just three blow dry stations, it is orchids and delicately scented candles aplenty up here. As this is my pre-wedding pamper, I tell my stylist I'm not looking for drastic change; but a general trim of my long, sadly limp, locks, and face-framing layers.
I opt for a dry cut, which is unusual but I would so again, as it results in maximum precision: it is easier to see split ends and broken bits on dry hair, so all of these are cut away. I hop into a taxi, hair still pinned, and unfurl it the next morning, to thrillingly reveal beautifully bouncy, voluminous hair.
It was one of the nicest grooming afternoons I can remember, in a soothing, girly haven at the hands of experts. A day at The Lanesborough spa should be on every wish list.
