London’s first barre class on ice is coming to Canary Wharf

Looking for an alternative to the gym? Get off the treadmill for London’s first barre class on ice

You’ve heard of Dancing on Ice, now get ready for London’s first barre class on ice. The exciting, alternative workout will be held at Ice Rink Canary Wharf on Saturday 3 February 2018.

Teaming up with one of the city’s hottest new fitness brands, DEFINE.London, and luxury D&D restaurant, Plateau, the exclusive event will start with a mat-based workout on the ice (no skates required) and will be followed an Instagram-worthy Botanical Brunch at Plateau.

Open to all abilities, the alternative exercise class will be hosted by DEFINE.London founder and former American Broadway actress, Ashley Verma, and be made up of two 30-minute halves.

The first will mix isometric moves – think thigh and glute sequences, chiselling arm manoeuvres and core-strengthening abdominal moves. Point and flex your way through the class to a relaxing second-half stretch out to help increase muscle control and warm down, whilst taking in the spectacular scenery of London’s longest-running seasonal ice rink, the fairy-lit trees and famous towers around Canada Square Park.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, join Ashley for a well-earned Botanical Brunch at Plateau. The recently launched, plant-based menu features vegan dishes such as crushed avocado on sourdough toast; buckwheat galette with spinach and salsify; beetroot tagliatelle, smoked beetroots topped with toasted pine nuts and almond milk ‘riz au lait’ for dessert.

Celebrate your icy achievement with a Garden mojito or hibiscus and elderflower spritz mocktail, a non-alcoholic, distilled spirit by Seedlip, or a Tanqueray botanical gin and FeverTree tonic.

“We are extremely excited for this special, unique event,” says Ashely Verma. “It’s not every day that you have a fitness session on the ice, so I cannot wait to get out there. What better place to do it than the iconic Ice Rink Canary Wharf as well – the scenery is truly something to behold.

“What’s more, we are incredibly grateful towards the D&D restaurant, Plateau, for opening their doors to welcome us for brunch – the menu looks incredible and I can’t wait to try their dishes. Now it’s just a case of choosing what to have!”

Guests will also receive a Sweaty Betty goodie bag at the end of the event.
