Flipping good pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday in London this February
Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, falls on 28 February this year. It marks the day before Lent starts in the Christian calendar: the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.
Shrove Tuesday is a day of penitence and celebration, for it is the last chance to feast before the abstinence of lent (which lasts for 40 and ends at Easter). It is traditional to eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
Religious or not, what’s not to love about a legitimate opportunity to feast on plates of fluffy pancakes?
While some might enjoy the fun of flipping batter around their kitchens, we think it’s a luxury to let someone else do the flipping, the garnishing and the cleaning up. Fortunately for us, some of London’s best restaurants are getting fully on board the pancake bandwagon.
