Anthony Vaccarello restyles the iconic YSL earrings for Spring/Summer 2017
Cast your mind back to Sex and the City 2 in 2010 and you’ll remember Samantha Jones putting the Sass in YSL in a pair of Yves Saint Laurent Vintage logo earrings. For Spring/Summer 2017, Anthony Vaccarello has redesigned the iconic, monogram earring in all its high-shine, fearless glory.
Eschewing its previous connotations, this season the statement earring is reborn with an edge. The interlocking, lustrous hook style can be separated by letter or placed together to recreate the logo for a new era.
Vaccarello debuted his first Spring/Summer collection for Saint Laurent in September 2016, paying tribute to the luxury French fashion house’s illustrious past, particularly its 1980s powerhouse, sexed-up silhouettes: velvet sweetheart necklines; one-shouldered prom dresses; breast-baring leather and thigh-splitting Lurex. Proving that the devil is in the detail, high-shine extras stole the show for many, with the monogram earring emerging as the season’s signature accessory.
The earring is available in various finishes, which will be rolled out this month by Saint Laurent. Pair your polished ear candy with pared-back neutrals – this accessory works best when worn alone.
