London’s skyline will have a new player come 2020, when construction will finish on the £800million+ residential skyscraper Spire London
The tower, which will be the tallest of its kind in the UK and Western Europe, will have 67 storeys and will measure up at 771ft (235.145m) high. Located in Hertsmere Road, Spire London is within walking distance of busy business district Canary Wharf and looks out over the 30acres of water in West India Quay.
Designed by architects Larry Malcic and Christopher Colosimo of award-winning HoK, Spire London will boast a concierge, residents’ gardens and luxury lifestyle amenities including a Spa and Club Bar on the 35th floor. The tower will provide 861 apartments – 765 of which are available for private sale and include suites, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom duplex penthouses.
The architects, inspired by the building’s Chinese developers Greenland Group, have taken influences from the orchid flower (cultivated in China for thousands of years) – and also from the building’s waterfront location. Three ‘petals’ form the spire, with faceted glass façades and nautical-style ‘prow’ and ‘bow’ contours. The slanted roof of Spire London accommodates outside terraces in the premier and penthouse apartments.
"With its record-breaking height, unrivalled views and dynamic architecture, Spire London is distinctly different to any other project being launched in Docklands." – Matthew Leitch, Senior Director at CBRE
The interiors of the building have been put together by leading interior designer Nicola Fontanella of Argent Design. The building’s showstopper will be the ground-floor through-lobby, which with its 6m-high ceilings, columns, feature lighting, lounge seating and concierge will give the impression of a luxurious boutique hotel.
The interiors though, however sumptuous, will have trouble matching the uninterrupted panoramic views over the whole of London. Claiming to be the highest and most far-reaching views ever provided over the capital, residents of Spire London will be able to look out over the Thames, Canary Wharf, the City of London and our city’s most famous landmarks.
The spa on the 35th floor will house a 465sq-m pool room with an infinity-edged swimming pool, lounge areas and a Jacuzzi – all to be enjoyed with a backdrop of stunning London-wide views. There will also be a 185sq-m gymnasium and fitness studio with changing facilities.
Residents will also be able to enjoy the private roof-terrace gardens on the third floor, which offer 929sq-m of outdoor space to make the most of London’s balmier days.
