Top Five: Blow Dry Bars

We pick five of the best London-based blow dry bars to take you from rundown to ravishing in under an hour

AER

Step into a world where styling is key for a number of classic blow dries and a range of fashionable up-dos perfect for any Christmas party. We love its latest offering, The Somerset, for tousled 'I got out of bed like this' curls, the perfect day-to-night hairstyle for that post-work date or drinks. Our top tip? Ask for the £10 Time Out add-on – a super relaxing 10minute head massage during your wash that's sure to work out the stresses of the day.

Prices start from £30, 172 Old Brompton Road, SW5, 020 7244 9499

Duck & Dry

This buzzing aquamarine hotspot has become a favourite amongst celebrities and locals since opening on the Kings Road last year. Fast, fun and utterly chic, customers can pick from eight styles including va-va voom curls and off-duty beach tousles. With the music loud and the prosecco on tap, it’s the perfect location for some bubbles and bounce. Duck & Dry also recently launched an events lounge which is ideal for parties and meetings, for those who fancy doing business with a side of brush.

Prices start from £35, 335-337 King's Road, SW3, 020 3489 9370

The Bardou

The Bardou is a pop-up salon on High Street Kensington that is open throughout the festive period. The name takes inspiration from our hair-crush Brigitte Bardot, who still stands as a poster girl for the perfect bouffant blow dry, and the salon offers nine shiny, swingy signature styles to choose from, as well as extensions and up-dos. Our favourite is the Fiercetale, a volumised sassy side plait.

Prices start from £20, 276 Kensington High Street, W8, 020 3793 7135

Hershesons

The original blow dry pioneers, Hershesons set the trend in London for no-cut salons when it launched way back in 2006. Continually reinventing their menu, this season’s favourite runway-inspired flicks include ‘Wavy-Gravy’ and the ‘Ragabilly’, which is ‘one part rockabilly to two parts raga girl.’ There is also a braid station which offers an instant undercut and a range of chic updos and clip-in extensions.

Prices start from £28, Available at Topshop Oxford Circus, Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge and One New Change St Paul's

Cheeky Parlour

Bridging the London East-West divide, this popular salon is situated above Barber & Parlour on Redchurch street and is managed by Kensington’s Josh Wood and his styling team. Kick back and enjoy complimentary cocktails and brownies while the Cheeky team transform your tresses, and for those tempted by the full 360 experience, the parlour also offers manicures, pedicures and beauty fixes.

Prices start at £30, 64-66 Redchurch Street, E2, 020 3376 1777
