Whether you love or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is a perfect excuse to indulge in chocolates and champagne. Here's our pick of the finest fizz and edible treats

1. Artisan du Chocolat Whimsical Chocolate Assortment

Gerard Coleman's Artisan du Chocolat was described as 'the Bentley of Chocolate' by Gordon Ramsay. This playfully illustrated, heart-shaped box is inscribed with the words: “Love can be like a fairytale. Some people find their happy ending in the first person they meet. Others have to fight a dragon and some have to kiss a frog.” Inside, find 30 exquisite dark, milk and white chocolate confections.

£29.95, harveynichols.com

2. Champagne PIAFF

Impress your plus one by pouring a glass of PIAFF this Valentine’s Day. The boutique champagne house is popular among London’s oenophiles-in-the-know and was the drink du jour during last summer’s Hampton Court Palace festival.

PIAFF has recently unveiled a sublime new Blanc de Blancs, made from 100% pure chardonnay grapes. Soft floral notes are complemented by a hint of almond and fresh hazelnut for a smooth, sparkling tipple that showcases PIAFF's delicacy, freshness and finesse.

The heart tin is priced at £6.50; truffle assortment is priced at £32, harrods.com

4. Veuve Clicquot Champagne Clicqu'call Rosé Bottle

£48, clos19.com

5. Cutter & Squidge Biskie Box

Feeling frisky for a biskie this Valentine’s Day? Cutter & Squidge is packing its signature delicacy into a special gift box. A biskie is a sweet hybrid of biscuit, cookie and cake, sandwiched with soft buttercream. The all-natural Soho bakery has also created a beautifully decorated, limited-edition Lady Bug style, with a sweet and sticky, strawberry jam core.

From £12.90 for a box of four, cutterandsquidge.com

6. Dom Pérignon 2005 Rosé Champagne

King of cuvées, Dom Pérignon, has released a grand new 2005 Rosé. This luxuriously complex, copper tipple is a tribute to pinot noir, finessed for more than 10 years in the historic Moet & Chandon cellars in Epernay. Pop the cork this Valentine's Day for a delightfully memorable pour.
