Inside Chanel: The French fashion house continues its series of short films with a spirited celebration of timepieces, inspired by the legacy of Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel
The Time of Chanel is the 19th chapter in a series of short films that reflect on the history of the House of Chanel. Energetic, playful and elegant, the new kaleidoscopic animation showcases the latest timepieces, interwoven with unfurling illustrations of Parisian cityscapes, spinning watch wheels and collaged photographs of Gabrielle Chanel.
The captivating short film, which you can watch below, explores how Gabrielle perceived time and lived very much in the moment. She was “a visionary present, fuelled by audacity and intuition, work and determination.”
The release coincides with Chanel’s The Year of Gabrielle, dedicated to the iconic founder. A new bag has been released for Spring/Summer 2017 in tribute to the trailblazing designer, as well as the first new fragrance in 15 years.
The bold film is imaginative, creative and effortlessly chic – qualities that Gabrielle possessed herself in abundance. She encouraged women to “be beautiful, very beautiful and free and to march to their own beat.” She was an irrefutable force with a gallant, infectious spirit, which continues to permeate each new Chanel collection.
The vivacious film comes with an underlying message: it’s not time itself that matters, but what you do with it.
